Improve your bottom line with procedures: A good way to increase crew productivity is to develop standard operating procedures (systems) for your company and employees to follow.

Moving the estimate from pending to a scheduled job: Create a job folder and Crew Work Order. The job folder holds important information about the project, including: scope of work and work item list, work specs, material list, color schedule, and a list of needed equipment.

Starting the job off right: Begin each project with a pre-job meeting between your job foreman, production crew, and if possible the property owner. Refer to the work order and review what work you will be completing, describe what steps will be completed in what order, and who is responsible for each work activity.

Completing the work and owner approval: Having procedures to wrap up a project is important, too. Each crew member should understand his/her role when it comes to touchups, job cleanup and project completion. At this point the foreman can conduct a final job inspection with the owner. It is more efficient to address any owner concerns prior to leaving the job site!
